Matuee used to be a homeless dog, but now he has found a new home at a gas station in the Jardim Novo Campos ElĂseos neighborhood of Campinas. He loves entertaining the waiters, neighbors, and customers who visit the station. Matuee was adopted two years ago and has become an integral part of the station’s community. He even wears employee uniforms and has a public social media profile that promotes the adoption of other abandoned dogs who come to the station.
Matute, a dog with a difficult past, had a habit of scavenging food from the streets and sleeping in the middle of the road. However, his life took a turn when he was hit by a car in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil in March 2022. A young person found him, and since then, the community, especially the gas station employees, have been supporting Matute. He has been working at the gas station ever since. The manager, Giovanni Fernandes, recalls that when Matute first came to the gas station, he was tired and embarrassed. However, the employees bought him a sausage and Matute stayed with them all day.
Matute’s rehaĘ™ilitation has been going great and he recently received his first uniform from a gas station as part of their advertising campaign. The gas station employees have even created social media accounts for the rescued dog, which makes perfect sense. Despite the marks on his face, which may scare some people, one of the staff members assured everyone that Matute no longer feels any pain in those areas. These scars are visible on Matute’s Instagram page, but they are a reminder of his past life on the streets.
