With a little bit of olive oil and plenty of patience, a fortunate canine managed to escape a sticky predicament.
Members of Queensland’s Mareeba Fire and Rescue, along with a local veterinarian and a veterinary nurse from Sundance Veterinary Services, responded to a distress call on a property located just west of Cairns recently. Their mission: to rescue a dog named Bonnie, who had managed to wedge her head into the narrow and circular center hole of a wheel rim.
In a light-hearted post on social media, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services shared an amusing incident involving a mischievous pup. The post humorously stated that the pup found herself in a tricky situation, getting stuck in a challenging position. However, the QFES crew proudly declared that no task is too tiresome for them as they successfully rescued the pup.
“Mareeba Fire and Rescue recently provided their assistance to Sundaance Veterinary Services in a heartwarming rescue mission. Little Bonnie, a furry companion, found herself in a bit of a predicament when her head got stuck in the center of a wheel rim, making her feel deflated. However, thanks to the quick thinking and resourcefulness of the crews, Bonnie was successfully freed from her tight spot. The rescue operation involved the ingenious use of copious amounts of olive oil and a great deal of patience. Fortunately, we have received encouraging updates that Bonnie is now on the road to recovery.”
Images of the team, veterinary professionals, and the owner capture Bonnie in a slightly sheepish and possibly embarrassed state following her extraction. As expected, the social media post about this incident received an overwhelming response of admiration, mostly directed towards the heroic rural firefighters.
